Setting Goals to get a GED
Setting Goals to get a GED
Getting a GED can be a daunting task, it takes a lot of hard work in order to obtain one and not everyone makes it but by setting goals for yourself and sticking to them you can overcome the odds. In order to give yourself the best shot at getting your GED you should set goals but do not go for the homerun goal right from the start. Start off slow, with little goals and once those are finished give yourself more to go for. The very first goal would probably be to actually give it a shot and try for a GED, you would be surprised by how many people cannot get past this very simple first goal. There are many people out there who have said I am going to try for my GED at this or that time and never do. If they simply gave it a shot and tried for their GED many would probably be surprised at what they can do and would probably get their GED but by not getting past this very first goal, they eliminate any chance at getting a GED at all.
Once you are past that and have actually put in some effort by giving yourself a shot at a GED then it is time to get ready for a lot of hard work. You will have to dedicate lots of time to your studying in order to learn the material and be able to regurgitate it back out once the time comes, but even so still take it slow. Day by day set aside times to study and stick to those times, make goals for what you what to learn on any given day making sure to keep it reasonable and then learn it, and repeat. By going at it like this, chopping this big thing down into lesser chunks you give yourself a much better chance of not only being able to learn what you need to learn but being able to keep what you learned in the depths of your brain. Doing this may put a strain on time you have for other things that you usually like to do in your leisure time so you may have to set goals for yourself in order to turn down things such as that also. You do not have the leisure time to watch your favorite show on TV or go out with friends like you may have done in the past. If you are to get a GED you have to be able to discipline yourself and work hard. By sticking to the goals you set yourself you increase your chances of getting a GED greatly and once you do it and you have your GED in your hands you will feel good about yourself, all of your hard work paying off to get you what you wanted.
So long as you give yourself a chance by trying for the GED, set small goals for yourself that chip away at the overall goal you wish to reach at the end, and do not get side tracked, you give yourself a good opportunity of doing great and obtaining a GED.
