GED Test to Advance Your Career
GED Test to Advance Your Career
Did you drop out of school when you were a kid? Have you ever thought about going back to school or wondered why your boss will never make you a manager? Chances are good that you aren’t going anywhere with your career because you never went back to school to at least pass the GED test. If you want advancement with your career then you should pass the GED test.
Many employers will hire kids who have not completed high school yet. Many employers will hire adults who didn’t finish high school. However, many companies are now making a high school diploma a requirement in order to be hired. Some companies may consider a GED as equivalent. Did you know that places like McDonalds in some states will not hire employees without a GED or diploma? That can make things tough for you if you don’t go back to school.
Many people think that they will work for a company and start at the ground floor and work their way up. The mentality is that they will eventually almost run the place after 30 years and then be able to retire a healthy package after this time. The problem is that if you don’t have at least your GED then the chances of you moving up are slim. This is because every time you apply for that management position and someone else with an education applies too, they will be considered before you. You will continue to be passed up until you take the GED test. One thing you should consider is that if you are competing with someone for a promotional position and they have their high school diploma and you have your GED then the other person may be considered in front of you also. However, in some places you might have an equal chance and other people may regard the GED at a lower status.
There are many companies that have high school diploma or GED requirements. They might not have had the requirements before you started working for them but if they implement the requirements while you are there then you could be required to obtain your GED. You might be grandfathered in but this would mean you will never advance your career with the company. Many companies have tuition reimbursement for college students. You might have a company that will help you pay for the preparation and the GED test. Companies encourage their employees to further their education to become valuable employees. If you want that management position you continue to get turned down for then you should consider that the reason may be because you are lacking the education.
The GED test is one of the only ways people who dropped out of high school are able to advance their careers. Most companies require a high school diploma or a GED before they will consider hiring you. Some companies may hire you but you will never advance in your career until you have passed your GED. If you are a high school drop out then you should consider taking the GED test.
