A High School Equivalency Diploma Story From John

When he was 17, John felt that he knew everything there was to know. In the beginning of his senior year in high school, John got an opportunity to work at a warehouse where he could make a lot more than some of the guys who had already graduated high school. John came from a family where every dollar was hard to come by. Neither of his parents graduated high school but they wanted for John to do so.

Against his parents wishes, he dropped out of school. He simply refused to attend any longer. Although his parents refused to sign the consent form, by refusing to go, the school had no choice but to expel him. John was now free to work at the warehouse.

At the warehouse, John put in grueling hours and got paid. He thought he was making good money. He moved from his parents house and into an apartment. He met a girl, ended up getting married and soon had a baby. His wife had a high school education and worked as a secretary. They put the baby with their parents when they went to work. Years passed.

The couple was thinking of buying a house when the warehouse where John was working closed down. Now John had to find another job. But the only job he was suited for was warehouse work. And most of the warehouses in the area wanted someone with a high school education.

In order to get his GED, John would have to sit through a course and then sign up for a state test. It would take months. John did not have months. He felt that if he put his mind to it, he could get his high school equivalency diploma in a matter of weeks. He signed up for an accredited institution online.

Before long, John had earned his high school equivalency diploma. He was now a high school graduate. He was able to get another job in a warehouse. But something changed inside of John. He no longer wanted to just get by, he wanted to get ahead. He decided to sign up for more education so that he could earn a trade degree. He always liked working with his hands so he decided to go to a technological school that offered evening classes as well as online classes. Within two years, he earned a degree.

Today, John has a four year degree and has an impressive job. He lives in a nice home in a nice suburb and his wife now only works a few hours a week and spends most of her time taking care of their three children. John got lucky. Although he felt at the time that the warehouse closing was the worst thing that could happen to him, it was actually the best. He was able to see how important an education is and still is. John is still learning and still growing and is going to make sure that his children not only complete high school, but college as well.

If you are like John and left school early, why not get your high school equivalency diploma today? You do not have to work for the rest of your life in jobs that pay low wages and that you hate. You can find a good job with good pay and live a better life with your high school equivalency diploma.
